Visual representation

Allowing me to pin point my intentions a little more, a collection of images found online have been gathered and laid out over a PowerPoint to help make it more clear with what I am after for some shots. Focusing more on the few second clips that get placed throughout the documentary like a montage of relative footage.

Brief structure

Getting my Pre-Production started for the documentary, I learnt that with a documentary itself, the script needs to be created last. So, avoiding that, I decided to make more of a structure based script. Gathering my topics, and writing what can be said about them sticking to the brief. At least with that document, I know what will get said, and what else will be placed within the duration period. A finalised script will be put together once ready. Having a brief script, I also needed to gather existing footage that I believe would fit in with each topic. Bonusing me as well, I have it all there ready to choose from rather than trying to piece everything together without knowing what existing footage and research I could include to back up any points. This also helped me gather more research as to what to talk about, expanding the range of conversations.

Outlining the documentary

Not going into too much detail, I put a brief word document together with the idea to figure out what I was going to do with the layout, and how I was going to go about it. With a few ideas, all that had related how my documentary would play out, was included.

Rational + Audience feedback

Image
Getting as organised as I could for the brief, a pitch has been made and is to be presented to a small audience, within the target range. By doing this, I can share my ideas and motives, then find which sections will need improving and what other parts should go well according to the ones this documentary will be meant for.  Using Canva to put the PowerPoint together, every slide will be found in the link below. Culture of the digital age from AmyKilbride2 Once the making of the pitch was out of the way, all I have to do now, as already stated, is present it. Whilst doing so, as proof of my presentation, by using my phone I will be using an audio recorder to capture all that was said. This way, I don't have to force anyone to be on camera as most will find this uncomforting, as well as getting the feedback right there and then whilst it's fresh in the people brains. Otherwise if I used a survey method as such, those viewing may end up forgetting half of what went on, an...

Audience profile

After the survey had been done and dusted, an additional PowerPoint had been put together allowing me to identify my target audience by both demographics and psychographics. As of that document, the link has been embeded below for you to follow. Audience profiles from AmyKilbride2

Audience research

Needing to find and know my target audience, a survey was created and sent around to people I knew that are within the age group I need to work towards attracting. That way with the survey, it helps to specify the interest and knowledge as such, helping me create an outcome they would be more happy with. As well, with me doing a documentary, if something in particular gets brought up and needs backing up, depending on what it is this survey works for that. Once the survey had been done with, a word document had been put together allowing me to go through every question I added, and talk it through as to why I added certain questions, mentioning the answers as well and how it helps my project. Existing product research

Helping to give us a better idea of documentaries, a combination of researching and analysing had went on with two chosen Netflix. With the information found, I was able to learn the different aspects that could go into documentary, and pinch what I believe would work with my project. Existing product research from AmyKilbride2 The first documentary I had worked on was 'The Movies That Made Us'. Before the brief was announced I had already sat through episodes of this series and quite enjoyed it, then after going through the brief, this was the first to come to mind for me to write about. Thinking about as well, my idea is focusing on the film industry so lucky for me, the choice fits. As for the second, 'The Social Dilemma'. I had never actually seen nor of this documentary before this brief, but as it came to choosing my other documentary to analyse I thought it would be best to go ahead with one that focuses on the impact of social media. This one in particula...

Digital filming equipment

For this, I have had to dig around and research plenty of digital equipment that can be used for filming. With this information, it expands my knowledge on these products and increases my options for future projects. Jotting down there pros and cons with little explanations as to each, the document will be found below here: Digital filming equipment from AmyKilbride2

Subject research

Choosing my main focus for this project, I have put together a brief document going through sections of the topic, with mentions of others. Subject research from AmyKilbride2 Only going into detail with some of the areas, it began to become hard to read with having to refer back a lot, so to resolve this for when it comes to finding what I need, a PowerPoint has been put in place allowing me to separate the topics and find what I need as I head into the Production stage.  Warning, it may be repetitive, but its mainly there to help me organise my topics.

First initial plans

Being introduced to the new brief, first things first was for me to note down and gather all that came to mind as I focused on figuring out my first initial plans. As of that, this document was created. Planning from AmyKilbride2

Client research

Starting a new project now, I am having to work towards a product relating to the brief, Culture of the Digital Age. As for the client that has been assigned, the BBC. Going more specific, the outcome will be going towards the BBC Three. Before anything else, research had gone into the client itself, everything interesting I could find was all wrote down in a word document to help prove my understanding of what the BBC would be after for an outcome. BBC research from AmyKilbride2 Once that was out of the way, I moved onto digging more into the BBC Three alone helping to get more specific with what my project needed to work towards.
