Prop production

When it comes to the opening sequence of my documentary project, a prop is needed. And that prop, is a DVD with its case. Rather than picking out an empty case, I had decided put together my own slip which will go inside the slipcover of the said case.  Below now, is a word document going though the process I went through to get this little piece made. Not being all, I also had it in mind to put together an opening title using the editing software, DaVinci Resolve to then burn it onto an empty disc. Finding I didn't have the time and then things coming up, access has been lost to get this done causing a change in scenery for the opening sequence. With me not getting this done, I still have the first few bits I had went through documented. So here it is...

Script

As suggested, I did the script last for this project allowing me to find the right structure for my documentary. Finishing off now, the brief script that had been published earlier came to great use for when it came to putting together my finalised script. Doing this on the website 'celtx', the script is now done and ready to be used for recording in the studio. A task that will be done with soon enough.

Flat plan

Going back to the opening sequence idea, prototypes have been created for the case of the documentary case.  Doing three designs, I had an additional idea of using a CD case instead of a DVD one. From there, I did a few extra designs showing the one design laid out on two different sized covers. But I am quite two sided on this, with a DVD lay out, then it fits really for a physical copy of watching a product. Whereas with the CD ones, they're more of listening. Then again though, you can still get films as such within a CD-like case. And I quite like the idea of using the smaller case as well. Going back again though, I am doing a documentary based on the film industry, so the poly-box may be the best option to move forward with. Now that's figured out, the design. For the first inspired by the clapperboard, I prefer the CD form as it's smaller and fits better. Then with the second, I quite like that for both, so I might actually go forward with the titled placed within a...

Storyboarding

With there not being much for me to storyboarding considering most of the shots will be of 2 seconds clips and an interview section with zero staged storytelling as such, one idea did come to mind for me to storyboard. And that's the opening sequence. Having to upload the pages separately, I had the idea to make it look as is I am playing the documentary on a disc. To get this done though, I will need to create a DVD cover using photoshop as well as possibly even burn the title onto a disc so it shows up. The other option, would be to place the title on during the editing stage, but that might not be realistic enough. So in terms of what I will have to go through for this, they opening sequence will be filmed last. Following the opening, an end sequence is needed. I will either have the screen go black with nothing on frame but the title for a few seconds, then it sizzles out. The other option, is I could do the opposite of the opening, and have the disc be taken out of the disc t...
